The New Web Site

Our web designer/bass singer extraordinaire Andy just launched our brand new web site at www.gofishguys.com.

He did a great job as always.  We're making a few more improvements to the Vacation Bible School page (adding a promo video that's almost finished) along with a couple minor changes, but for the most part it's up and rockin'!

The most significant improvement is the new online store.  We're celebrating the new site by offering our $5 deal online for the first time ever!  We'll send out a mass email announcing the special and new site soon, but I thought I'd give you guys a 'heads up'.  If you want to get all your Christmas shopping done this is your chance!  (And yes, shipping is still free.  I know, I know...too good to be true!)

Again, we are blessed by the fact that we have someone like Andy who is able to use his designing skills along with his singing skills!

Spooky!

We are in Racine, WI tonight for a concert and this was in our dressing room. Very cool! Whoever went through all the work to do this - THANKS!

Did You Know...

...that every online order gets packaged and sent by Jason and his wife?
...that our online orders are sent out by an awesome small town post office in Medford, MN?  Interestingly enough, if you come to a concert in that area you'll find at least 1 or 2 entire rows filled with employees of that post office and their families!
...that Andy designs every CD cover, web site page, poster, t-shirt, stage backdrop, and Go Fish printed material you've ever seen?  See this picture?

...that people in our industry still think we're nuts for making kids music?
...that we're promoting our own Christmas shows, creating our own Vacation Bible School curriculum, and also running our own record label?  What this means is that no big company backs us up.  We take all the risk trusting that God will bless our efforts and that we'll continue to sell enough product to cover our costs.

Why do I share these things?  Because most bands want you to think that life is easy and that they're rock stars with no worries.  Don't believe it...it's not true.  Just like any other job, it's a lot of work and we joyfully do it every single day because we are passionate about what we do.  We are also continually pushed onward by parents all across the country who ALWAYS cheer us on and encourage us to keep going!

There is a war going on for the souls of our children.  We absolutely have to get Biblical principles along with the gospel of Jesus Christ back into the hearts and minds of our little ones.  Together we are doing that and it is REALLY exciting.  Thank you for supporting the Go Fish Guys time and time again!

One more thing you might not know...

This morning I checked the iTunes Children's Music page.  Our new CD "Party Like A Preschooler" was #15 right next to Nickelodeon's "The Backyardigans" and Disney's "High School Musical".  The word is getting out my friends and we have YOU to thank.  It's time to Go Fish!

Who's Gayle Williams?

She's a 34 year old Christian woman who was shot and killed last week.  This is why:

"This woman came to Afghanistan to teach Christianity to the people of Afghanistan," militant spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told The Associated Press. "Our (leaders) issued a decree to kill this woman. This morning our people killed her in Kabul."

As I started my week, this story popped up on my homepage and caught my eye immediately.  What a reminder to take every opportunity to share the gospel while we're still free to do so.  Please pray for Gayle's family and for the work being done by people like her for the sake of the kingdom.

I Just Love These!

Here's a very encouraging email I received about how one woman is using our music to teach kids the books of the Bible.  Thanks Dawn!

Dear Go Fish Guys,
Greetings from Illinois! 

I am excited to report that two of my Kidz Khoir kids met the big challenge (memorizing all the books of the Bible)!  Originally, I said the first one would get to go to your Christmas concert (because I knew they all could do it), but they both approached me at the same time (and are brother and sister).  You will see them at your Davenport concert on December 18 (thank you for performing in the Quad Cities)!

I thought you'd also like to know that your music continues to spread!  We sent "Party Like a Preschooler" to our friend for his birthday.  His Mom made a point to text us from her cell phone, as they were listening to it, saying "they are AWESOME!!! Thank you so very much - I will spread the word about these guys from my home state :)"  Then, last night at our rehearsal, a Mom told me how much her kids were enjoying your "Snazzy" album!

Home, semi-sweet, Home

We just returned from two great shows last weekend in New Jersey and North Carolina.  Once again, it was hard not to reflect on the amazing ways God has grown the geographical reach of our music in the last few years.

When we did our "normal" music years ago, we tried everything possible to get our music accepted by people outside of MN, IA, and SD.  We toured with well known artists, we had success at Christian radio nationally, and we signed a deal with a national record label.  We did all the right things but it just didn't matter...nothing seemed to work.  In retrospect, it's obvious that God provided us with exactly what we needed (the support from the Midwest) so that we could survive until we were prepared for His plan for us.

Now, we make music for kids.  The support we receive in the Midwest is still solid (and appreciated), but it is nothing like the success we are experiencing when we fly out to different regions of the country.  I think once people "know" you for one thing, it's hard for them to make the switch even when the "product" is better.  For this reason I thank God that even though I didn't understand it at the time, He did not allow us to succeed on a national level until our passion for reaching kids was in full force.

At my Bible Study Fellowship last night, we were talking about how God often let's us go through disappointments because He has something even better in store for us.  This has been SO true for Go Fish.  When everything we did failed, how could we possibly have known that it would be so that our "kids music" could succeed?  We didn't.  In fact, we would never have dreamed that we would even be making kids music someday.  God has a plan and it's ALWAYS better than the one we think we want!
