MOPS

Well, we've made it to our favorite week of the year.  The week where we get to go to the national MOPS Convention!  There is nothing better than playing our music for 5,000 moms who totally "get" why what we do is so necessary.  We literally plan our whole year around this event as it is the springboard we use to tell the entire nation about what we're doing.

You see when you introduce a new product for 5,000 moms and they love it, then they go home and tell other moms all over the country about it.  That's why MOPS is such a big deal for us.  We depend on them more than they probably know so it is crucial for our survival that we make products that they can get behind!  This year we're introducing our "Party Like A Preschooler" CD and I am praying that they like this new CD as much as we do.

We've worked hard to prepare for this event and we've worked even harder to get this new CD into our hands in time!  I'm thankful to say that God has provided and we are ready to go with our boxes of CDs in hand.  Please pray for safe travel and that we wouldn't have any weird sound issues or anything mess up our set on Thursday night!  Most of all, pray that all of the CDs that make their way across the country would end up in the hands of families who have never heard the gospel.  May our music be used to point them to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  After all, even when we're recording songs like "The Wheels on the Bus" it's still ultimately about "the fishing"!

Think Big

It's my favorite time of year...fall.  The Vikings are on, the a/c is off, and the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) convention is in 1 week.  Yee Haw...it's even in Texas which means I get to wear my cowboy hat!

This past week I've been busy writing and recording the music that will play during our promo video for the "Backstage With The Bible" Go Fish Vacation Bible School curriculum.  We're launching the curriculum at both Children's Pastor Conferences in Nashville and San Diego next January and we'll be using this video at those events.  We'll also be posting it on our new web site as well when it is complete.

Since we're gone the whole month of December on our "Christmas With A Capital C" tour, we need to get all of our Vacation Bible School stuff done now since January will be here before we know it!

Oh yeah, the new album will be in our hands this week and the new web site should launch next week.  Whew...we have a lot going on but it is exciting work.  Everyone of these projects (Preschooler CD, Christmas Tour, MOPS Convention, new web site, and Vacation Bible School curriculum) is important and a blast to work on.  What makes it so fun is that I just KNOW that each one is unique, different, and you all are going to enjoy them all!

Please keep us in your prayers as we do our best to "fish for men" and do BIG things for God!

We Are Grateful...

...to so many of you who continue to support the Go Fish Guys in amazing ways!  Here are two emails I received on the same day that were extremely encouraging to me.

The first one is from Christy in Texas telling me how she's helping get our music heard!

"Just wanted to let you guys know that I gave one of your CDs to my daughter's Christian dance studio.  I told them that most of the songs have some great beats and fun lyrics.  When we went back today I asked if they had listened to it and they said "Yes, we are going to use it in some of our classes!".  I am so excited that I got to introduce you guys to a whole new crowd that didn't know you before! :)

See you at the MOPS Convention in a few weeks.  I am bringing my 7 and 9 year old to hear you on Thursday night.  They are pumped!"

The next one is from Laura in Tucson, Arizona.

"My 6 and 8 year-old kids and I REALLY enjoyed your concert at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Tucson last June. We were jammin' and singing and dancing when half-way thorugh the concert my daughter (age 8) looked at me and, getting close so I could hear her above the music, yelled "This is the best summer ever!" We've been jammin' to your songs in the car ever since, and yes, even I sometimes do when the kids are not with me.
 
My daughter, a third-grader, received her very own Bible in church on Sunday, and on the way home, we played "Bible Book Bop" and she followed along with the table of contents in her Bible. For some reason she became interested in Jonah, and tonight I discovered her alone in her room reading Jonah. She had looked it up and decided to read it on her own. When I asked her what she was reading, she said "Jonah. He got eaten by a big fish". After dinner she asked me to help her look up about David and Goliath so she could read that story too. "Superhero" is one of her favorite songs.
 
We have your songs to thank for sparking my kids interest in learning more about God and the stories in the Bible. I work in the office at St. Andrew's and am a life-long Presbyterian, but have never experienced anything so infectious, entertaining, and spiritually uplifting as your music.  Thank you VERY MUCH and thanks for being the hi-light of our summer!!"

You all have no idea how much we appreciate all of your encouraging emails and the amazing ways you help us by spreading our music.  Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you.

Vacation Bible School Videos

Well, this Saturday we have our first video shoot for our "Backstage With The Bible" Vacation Bible School curriculum.

We'll be getting a lot of the "concert" footage for the songs we're using.  Since the whole premise of the curriculum is a concert/backstage setting, we're filming at a Christian nightclub in downtown Minneapolis.  We've been working hard on the whole Vacation Bible School concept and I am looking forward to putting the videos together.  They are going to play a huge role in the curriculum so hopefully everything goes smoothly and we get some great footage.

2009 Christmas Tour

We are gearing up for the "Christmas With A Capital C Tour" this year.  We may still add a few more shows, but as you can see, it's going to be a busy month!

The whole youtube phenomenon with "Christmas With A Capital C" has really touched a nerve and so we've decided to do the most politically incorrect Christmas Tour ever.  How are we going to do that?  We plan on presenting the gospel at every show.  If you want a "holiday" show...don't come to ours!  It's all about the Cross and we hope you're brave enough to bring all your unsaved friends to our Christmas show this year.  That's why we do it!

The Way It Should Be

I was running some errands yesterday with my 2 and 4 year old boys.  I burned a copy of the new "Party Like A Preschooler" mixes to listen to while we were driving around.  It was a beautiful day, we had the windows rolled down, and the tunes were cranked.  We stopped at a light and I noticed we were getting a few strange looks when it dawned on me that the song that I was jamming out to was "Do Your Ears Hang Low"!  What can I say?  It sounded good, the boys were happy, and I was too!

We have a lot of parents at our concerts comment to us almost apologetically saying "I hate to admit it, but I listen to your kids cds even when my kids aren't with me!".  To that I say...that's the way it should be!

C.S. Lewis said, "It certainly is my opinion that a book worth reading only in childhood is not worth reading even then".  I say the same goes for music.  If you don't like the quality of a kids CD, please don't subject your kids to it.  They deserve better!
